What is Cyber Monday?
Cyber Monday is a marketing term that refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday being the busiest day of the year for retail electronic commerce in the United States. The term was created by the National Retail Federation and announced in conjunction with the deployment of their own website CyberMonday.com designed to serve as a portal for Cyber Monday deals and offers.
Cyber Monday Facts:
- More than one in three people say they'll be using their fast-access work computers this year for holiday shopping. That's more than 51 million people logging on at work.
- Nearly 80% of online retailers say their sales went way up last year on Cyber Monday.
- A recent survey shows that 43 percent of online retailers plan to offer special promotions and discounts on Cyber Monday. Deals range from slashed prices to free shipping.
Tips for safe online shopping:
- Make sure your browser is fully upgraded to make sure you are not a target for a hacker to steal your info during a purchase.
- Buy electronics now. Wait to buy clothing.
- Verify Secure Connections through your browser.
- Be sure the website you are on is legitimate and not a scam site.
