Fans With Benefits: Add Value On Your Facebook Page

Facebook-Button One of the questions people need to ask when considering setting up a Facebook Page for their business or organization is How can I add value?

People are on Facebook to primarily interact with their family and friends – not your brand. They will, however, if you give them a reason to do so and add value to their lives and online experience.

Providing exclusive content, promotions and discounts, in addition to asking and answering questions to identify and solve problems or concerns is a great place to start. Use Facebook Insights to monitor and measure how people are responding to your content. Do more of what people are responding to!

Consider adding a landing tab to your Facebook Page that lets potential fans know what they can expect to receive after clicking that “Become a Fan” button. I think the Walgreens Facebook Page does a fantastic job of this. The tab is simple, but it gets the point across:

  1. One thing I’m struggling with on my Pages is how Facebook’s Terms and Conditions governing Promotions affect adding discounts and incentives to our posts. As I understand it, you can’t (legally) require someone to do something through Facebook to get a “prize” of any kind. Am I misinterpreting the rules? What is legit?
