Rumor has it Facebook will be rolling out Timeline for brand pages any day now. The most frequently given date is February 29. Until Facebook makes their official announcement, however, we don’t exactly know how Timeline will work for brand pages. Assuming it’s going to be a lot like Timeline that’s already rolled out for people, here are 3 easy ways brands can prepare for the change:
1. Prepare your cover photo
The cover photo at the top of the page gives you a lot of room to make an impact. Cover photo dimensions are 850 x 315 pixels – major real estate you don’t want to waste. Make sure you use a high resolution image or else it may appear pixelated after you upload it.
2. Establish your timeline of events
Decide now which events you’d like to showcase as brand milestones. With Timeline, milestones can be added that pre-date the invention of Facebook. Map out important or interesting events in the history of your company. Find and organize photos, videos or articles about these events so you can include them with your milestone posts.
3. Keep calm and carry on
Like now, a majority of the interactions with your brand on Facebook will take place in the News Feed – not on your Page (or Timeline). Continue posting the same quality content, photos, videos, questions and links that your fans have already come to appreciate!
