Stop Tweeting. Start Meeting. Twitter Girl Video Rocks.

I know you know a person like this. Unfollow them!

A few months ago – I got to spend a few minutes with Guy Kawasaki and talk about his twitter philosophies.

I'm taking Guy's UFM policy and applying it to the space cadet tweeters. I must also give credit to Ari Herzog – who shared these awesome videos for Jewish New Year. Basically, the annoying things that were somewhat permissible in 2007 and 2008 with regards to twitter are definitely NOT cool anymore. For example, tweeting during actual real life conversations is definitely not ok. Check out this video. The take away. Stop tweeting constantly. Start Meeting more!

In true Firebelly fashion, Duncan Alney surprised all of us by scoring an interview with  Guy Kawasaki at SES New York on March 28th, 2009 about some of his views on Twitter. Check out the interview on Firebelly Marketing’s blog. Not bad for a little firm or Indianapolis social media!

Here’s some background on Guy.

Guy Kawasaki
Author of Reality Check, Founding Partner
Garage Technology Ventures

Guy Kawasaki’s newest book, Reality Check: The Irreverent Guide to Outsmarting, Outmanaging, and Outmarketing Your Competition (Portfolio, Penguin Group), was released on October 30, 2008. Reality Check is his all-in-one guide for starting and operating great organizations—ones that stand the test of time and ignore any passing fads in business theory. He is also the author of eight books including The Art of the Start, Rules for Revolutionaries, How to Drive Your Competition Crazy, Selling the Dream, and The Macintosh Way.

Mr. Kawasaki is a founding partner and entrepreneur-in-residence at Garage Technology Ventures, a seed and early stage venture capital fund. He is also the co-founder of Alltop.com, an “online magazine rack” of popular topics on the web—the success of which is attributed to social networking tools such as Twitter. He is considered one of the top 50 most popular bloggers worldwide, and was recently selected by Invesp.com as the #2 top marketer of 2008.

Mr. Kawasaki’s in-depth knowledge of the high-tech industry combined with his years of management experience enable him to address a wide range of audiences. He has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.

Firebelly's Duncan Alney had a chance to "talk Twitter" with Guy Kawasaki at the Search Engine Strategies conference in New York. In this video they discuss "true influence" on Twitter, re-tweeting, Guy's follow and unfollow philosophies, and, yes, even Britney Spears.

Duncan has been, and will continue to be, live tweeting from the event all week. Follow it all on Twitter at @firebelly
