Search and social Media: is your brand protected?

Interview with Dave Adler, eCommerce attorney, at SES Chicago

In 2008, we’ve all seen search (both organic and paid) and social media grow significantly. And the growth has brought new issues and concerns to the forefront. Brand being hijacked by parties not associated with the brand (link), companies purchasing “trademarked” words for their paid search, and all the conversations that include brand names that are happening all over the web.

So the issues range from copyright infringement (in the case of content), trademark violation, intellectual property (in certain cases), reputation damage (again in some cases) and, of course, there all kinds of e-commerce implications. These are all issues that require a different kind of expert – people with expertise in online media. I talked to Dave Adler, ecommerce attorney, about this at SES Chicago and the video interview is below.
