How To Get Travel Influencers To Visit Your City

Travel Influencers

It’s warming up and influencers are making travel plans for the spring and summer. Use these tips to entice travel influencers to visit your city for more exposure.

The best way to go about this is to make a solid compensation package to offer to influencers based on their following, social media channels they are active on, and overall clout. Don’t offer all of these categories to every influencer you reach out to, but use these categories as a tiered compensation plan.

Provide swag bags

As a bare minimum, put together a swag bag for travel influencers visiting your city with local products and branded items that you can only get there. It works as a nice welcome gift for influencers, and gives exposure to brands included in the bag.

Offer gift cards and discounts

Offer travel influencers gift cards and discounts as compensation. Make some time to collect local gift card and discount donations to use as incentives from restaurants and businesses.

Most local places will be willing to donate these to you if you tell them they are going to influencers that will talk about them on social media, getting them just as much exposure as your city.

Provide accommodations

If the travel influencers you are reaching out to have to take a longer trip to get to your city, comping a night or two in a hotel is a great compensation option. This gives influencers more time in your city to explore and incentivizes influencers beyond the gift cards and discounts.

Cover travel expenses

To up the compensation even more, offer to cover travel expenses. Calculate by the mile how far the influencer is traveling from, the number of meals they will be eating during their visit, Uber/Lyft rides, airline fares, and offer money accordingly.

Consider general compensation

When all of the above isn’t enough, because you are working with a bigger influencer, compensate additionally based on the work you are asking them to do. Add in money on top of the above compensation for promised social media posts, blogs, videos, etc.
