Firebelly Father’s Day 2022 Playlist

We’re celebrating our Firebelly dads, and dads everywhere, with a Father’s Day playlist, created by the dads on our team! They each contributed three songs and gave us a few sentences on an instance or experience that particularly stands out as being impactful along their fatherhood journey.

Duncan:

His songs:

  1. ”Tonight” - David Bowie

  2. ”Superstar” - Beach House

  3. ”Vienna” - Billy Joel

“Becoming a father was an inflection point in my life. It changed my perspective completely. Realizing that I was responsible for another human in such a deep and singular way helped me focus my energies and emotions. Seeing my son, Enzo, in his school's production of Frozen, made me so happy and proud to see him singing and dancing. After the production was over, he rushed over to me and said, “Papa what did you think?” I was filled with joy to see his talent and how much he cared about my opinion!”

Jeremy:

His songs:

  1. ”My Old Man” - Zac Brown Band

  2. ”Song For Dad” - Keith Urban

  3. ”Just the Two of Us” - Will Smith

“The other day Silas said, "Dad, you are the best dad in the world." I said, "Thank you, but are you sure?... Have you met the other dads?" Emmett then said, "Dad you always tell us to believe in ourselves, you need to believe you are the best dad ever!"

Bryce:

  1. ”Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” - Birdman & Lil Wayne

  2. “Summertime” - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

  3. ”Return of the Mack” - Mark Morrison

“When I first saw my son, I felt myself age - in a good way. Life became more serious and I began to seek providence. Canon is soon to be 10 months old and every day is a new chapter in his short life. Kids progress rapidly, so if I've learned anything as a father it's that I can trust and immerse myself in my instincts. I get up every day to make life better for him.”

Michael:

His songs:

  1. ”Father and Daughter” - Paul Simon

  2. ”Brown Eyed Girl” - Van Morrison

  3. ”The Sweetest Thing” - U2

“The day I became a father was the day my life came true. There is a realization of the cycle of things and how I had transitioned to an incredible new role. Seeing my daughters and son live through all the metaphors. Learning to crawl before you walk, taking baby steps, and getting rid of training wheels were all such deep moments when they happened. I learned more than anything that what kids want most, and what matters most, is time. The more of it you invest, the deeper the experience. And as they grow into amazing individuals now, it’s time with them I want more of. Fatherhood has been the blessing of my life.”
