The Importance Of Video For Social Media Story

No medium gives brands a better voice than video. 

Yeah, I said it. 

For dynamic insight and valuable engagement, you can’t get much better than this. Social media takes filmmaking techniques and throws them out the window.

Let me explain it like this.

Normal filmmaking is like walking through a door. Video or filmmaking for social media is like climbing through a window. It’s not necessarily difficult, but a completely different prospect.

Stories no longer have a build — at least not in a linear way. It’s punchline from zero or keep-on scrolling. As our Chief Storyteller, Michael Hussain, once said, “it's a mosaic”. 

Social media requires us to think in bursts that all cluster together to tell a cumulative story. 

It’s like seeing an old friend. You know you like them and every time you get to hang out, you have a new reason to add to your story of that person.

Remember this: social media requires a story to be told differently. It’s not wrong or right because there are no rules.

Social video is asynchronous. These visual stories weave together social elements that must simultaneously stand on their own and work together. 

Keep conversions in mind

The purpose of content is to deliver a message. Because of limited attention spans, short-form is crucial. Don’t forget the end message for conversions. 

Share what you want people to know

Recall that social media is exactly that. There’s an array of different channels that require valuable, entertaining, and eye-popping content. Just remember: 94% share or reshare on social media.  

It's not wrong or right because there are no rules

The only rule is defining the brand and having the video content reflect that specific identity.

Despite our face-to-face interactions inhibited by a computer screen, don’t forget that you’re marketing to REAL PEOPLE. Connect, communicate, and grow to nourish those relationships.
